Welcome to the final day of the 100 Blocks bloghop!! This is my 2nd year & I’m over the moon about being included with some of my favorite designers! Be sure to check them out here!

It really struck me about here how different the block looks when the values shift.

  
  
Trying to decide if the smaller square should be “in front” or “behind” and playing with a more fall-like palate.
               
   
  

My friend Naomi has EQ7 and I did not at the time….I was coloring with pencils and she was clicking and changing values. I asked for the one I eventually submitted, and she sent me back something totally different. When I asked again, she opened what she had originally sent and said “Oh! That looks like vomit!!” Then she sent the corrected one labeled as NV for non-vomit & I knew right away this blocks name was Naomi’s NV or Envy to be PC. Now you get a glimpse into my twisted mind *grin*

    Such an awesome block. Congrats! Favorite colors are black and white, white and black, with another color mixed in…yellow or lime green or red. Love fabric FAB-MH 0391. My daughter is a pilot & just had twins. One of her pilot friends gave her the cutest pilot sleepers for each baby at the shower. Love fabrics with planes!

    I use blue fabric in almost all quilts, in my home, and I love wearing it too! Now green is my least favorite but I love green in quilts made by everyone else. If I would win your drawing ANY fabric in the blues family can come find a home with me. Blenders and novelty prints are so fun!

    What a cool block! I’d like to make this in pinks, creams, and dark gray. You must have a very analytical brain to dream up such a complicated block!

    Great block! I love greens and yellows – purple not so much. I have a very good quilting friend that LOVES purple and HATES green, when I need a purple for a quilt I send her shopping, when she needs a green she raids my stash cause I have a ton of greens.

    Congratulations on being a centerfold! Just watch out for the staples. I hear they are brutal!! I don’t really have a “favorite” color, but there are some that I gravitate to more than others. I see your block as a flower: the squares as pinks for the flowers and greens for the under small squares for stems or leaves, with a blender for the under colors.

    Congratulations on getting your block published! Naomi is a great friend and what a stitch…her response was priceless. I can just imagine hearing my daughter or granddaughter saying such…not nasty, just sharing their honest reaction. Anyway, I tend to gravitate to browns and blues (although lately I have used a lot of bright, colorful prints for my youngest granddaughters). I usually shy away from red and orange. However, I love some of the red quilts I have seen that were made by others.

    Your block is so pretty! Thanks for showing us how it looks with several blocks and in different colors, that always helps me. I like all colors of fabrics, I make scrap quilts. I like this yardage from SpareFabric.com FAB-MH-0356 (100% Cotton) Brand: Spectrix (SPX) It would be perfect for the binding on a quilt for a wounded soldier. Okay, just how on earth did I not already know about that site, Spare Fabric? I’ve been diligently collecting fabric for YEARS! Thanks so much for telling us about it.

    I must love green and sure do love the blue with the green. Your quilt makes me want to make it now.(two hours past bedtime) I do not like dull fabric but in the right quilt it can be needed. I love the A Henry grey pine winter fabric it is calling me to find it a home in a quilt.

    Thanks for explaining the story behind your block’s name–I was curious the moment I saw it and was so glad you cleared that up. 🙂 As for colors, I used to hate orange, but have come around to it, and now love to use it with plum or navy blue. For awhile I was almost embarrassed to have changed my strong feelings about orange–as if I no longer stood for anything, isn’t that silly?–but now I just go with it, because the color combos make me happy.

    Thanks for introducing me to a new online store. What a fun selection they have, and great prices. I would love a yard of Riley Blake’s FAB-MH-0388 (Flannel). I just made a quilt for my niece’s three year old in this line of fabric in cotton. We laugh because she has a high-spirited kid who is a lot like our fun-but-strong-willed puppy–lots of fun but better keep an eye on him. Well, I’d like to make our pup a new quilt, and I’d like to use the same fabric design as I chose for my little redheaded great-nephew.

    Love your block. Thanks for sharing the process with us. Such talented designers on this tour. My favorite colors are purple and teal. Also I find black and white with a splash of a brite color enticing.

    I like working with reds but I use all colors! i make mostly scrap quilts. I really like the Victoria’s Park by Karen Styles line!

    LOL – What a fabulous name for your fabulous block! I love using lots of colors but what I almost never use are browns, although I like them with other colors like aquas and pinks – or as you said – when someone else uses them. Thanks so much for the chance to win 🙂

    I love playing with colours and values on my blocks in EQ..amazing how much they change things. I tend to play too long and never get to the sewing. Oops! 🙂 I usually end up using fall colours but I love your blues and softer yellow block. Hard to choose but I think I’d love the FAB-MH-0229. Should be a great blender.

    Love, love, love this block!! And i went to the site and like this fabric: FTQ-MH-0057. I’d love to win an issue….I would use it in my in-progress sewing room. My daughter just got married last weekend….her room is empty….I think I see a Momma’s Sewing Room ahead for me! Thanks for the giveaway.

    I’ve taken a look at all (yes, every single yard and fat quarter) of the fabric SpareFabric has to offer and I must say I’m impressed. After thinking I’d like some black or gray (boring) for my next project, I found just what I wanted, some bright happy daffodils FAB-MH-0066 (100% Cotton). And it’s not blue or purple which I always lean towards. Maybe there is hope for me after all. kthurn@bektel.com

    Wow–depending on the values you use, you can really get a close approximation of Celtic knot-style look!
    I enjoy using Quilt-Pro software to draft in blocks I like, as well as color their extensive library of blocks. It’s easy and fun to change colors and values in the program. I enjoy purple and aqua, yellow and purple, yellow and gray, and red-white-blue patriotic colors. I also use red and gray and black a lot, since I have 3 sons and a firefighter husband.

    I am a green fan, but I get along with all colors and, yes, changing values really makes a block do something special. However, I can’t imagine a block vomiting, I guess I like things mixed up. Oops, that sounds like “v”, Thanks for the block, Kathy in Colo

    My favourite colour is blue. In particular I like the duck egg shade of blue and royal blue. I am new to quilting and sewing but loving every minute of it . I am loving this fabric : FAB-MH-0239 (100% Cotton)

    Congrats on your block. I can’t wait to sew it up and play with all the layouts!! I had a love hate relationship with orange. But then I married a nutty Clemson fan, been exposed to a whole lotta orange, and have been successful at suppressing my own gag reflex. Now GRAY is the new orange. I have trouble with gray, as it either washes out the project, or reads too blue… I’ll figure it out one of these days! LOL! I love Marge and Steven’s FAB-5E-0434…it’s the wonderful brown patchwork. I’m teaching my 8 yr old son how to hand sew this winter when we’re snowed in, and thought that would be a great fabric to “faux quilt” with his newbie stitches. He already has a better sense of color than I do….. of course his favorite color?…. why Clemson Orange of course!! Congrats again on your block! And thank you for the heads up on the Bonnie’s mystery quilt fun! I need a little mystery to my winter “gray” days… Oh Nooo GRAY!!!!

    Congratulations on the centerfold! Thanks for the tip on Spare Fabric. Always great to find a source for reasonably priced fabric. I looked through their entire inventory and liked all the rooster prints from “Poulets de Provence” the best.
